"let's be wildflowers,
let our souls be scattered by the wind.
let us grow, wild and free,
tall and brave,
in the places that we dream,
in the places where our longings are filled.
let us grow between the cracks
and we will make everything beautiful."
Would you believe me if I told you my 72, going on 73 year old Gram-e took these photos in the wildflowers? I'm going to go ahead and dedicate this post to her, because she's just the most bad-ass lady I know. Pictured above, from left to right Rosalie (Gram's bff), Grammy, & me (...duh).
Today, we spent the day in Cape May, New Jersey. But before we headed out, we stopped at the wildflower field. Last Tuesday, I spent the day with my Grandmother as well, and we happened to drive past this breathtaking field of flowers. It was a little rainy that day, but I said aloud, I need to take photos there! Sure enough, a week later, my Gram remembered, reminding me to bring my camera along for the day so she could snap some beauts in front of this magical meadow also known as, Pleasant Valley Farm. Beside it, was a little fresh fruit/veggie stand where the owner of the establishment was selling some goodies! He was so sweet, and with a smile, told us to go ahead and take as many pictures as we wanted in front of his gorgeous land. Afterwards, we of course scooped some yummies that Pleasant Valley Farm grows themselves! Gram-E grabbed some fresh apples, Rosalie got some pears and Brookie T grabbed some homemade cinnamon applesauce. (I love me a good spoonful of that goodness.) That's one of my favorite things about New Jersey! There are fresh fruit and veggie stands everywhere! A lot of people have a misconception about good 'ol NJ and what we're all about. For those of you who don't know, we are "The Garden State"! And we have acres and acres of farmland for as far as you can see in many parts of the state. We're pretty country out here! We've got the best of both worlds with crops for days and an ocean view.
Our day in Cape May turned out lovely. It was absolutely gorgeous outside. Bright and sunny. 78 degrees with an ocean breeze. We ate some delicious grub, shopped downtown and treated ourselves to ice cream cones! We were all sad to see the day come to an end. My bestie are 72. So what? Old soul. Or, perhaps my gals are the ones with the old souls. A combination of both, I suppose.
Peep the ruffle off-the-shoulder top I have on! This pretty little number is from ChicWish and I couldn't love it any more! I'm obsessed.
