"Simplicity makes for less stress and more happiness."
Overalls are back. I didn't know how I felt about it at first but now...I am totally diggin' the trend. I remember being a little girl and wearing these bad boys all the time. Daily, actually. I'm not even sure if they were ever "in" back in my day. Either way, judging by the photos, my mother sure thought they were.
Speaking of, my childhood was every bit of the word, wonderful. Whenever I get thinking, or talking about the life I lived as a little girl, I can't help but feel emotional and overwhelmingly grateful. I have such vivid, fond memories of being a 'lil tike. And most of them are so happy. To give you a brief glimpse of how my every day life went:
My little sister and I were always really close. Best friends. 21 months apart, 2 years apart in school. We had tons of toys. TONS. We had an entire basement designated to our playing space. We had a cash register, a beauty salon, a dollhouse, and a kitchen set. We played house and we ran the place. We had and a huge, fenced in backyard, with a trampoline, a swing set, and a pad of concrete so we could draw with chalk, (without having to go in the front yard- near the street,) where our parents would have to watch our every move. We had a power wheels. That power wheels, HA. It was our life. It was a red pick up truck. We would drive that thing full speed around the backyard. Mom would hang clean sheets out on the line, and we would tear right through them in our badass truck. Just thinking about it, I can smell the overwhelmingly fresh Tide detergent as the sheets grazed over our little faces. The concrete pad was visible from our dining room window. Any time Emily and I would get into an argument, it was kind of our thing to apologize by drawing a picture for each other with chalk on the sidewalk with the words "I'M SORRY!" Oh man, we were weirdos. But dang, those days were good.
Back when landlines were still a thing, and using the internet meant the phone line had to be shut off for the time being. Our idea of fun was experience. Making memories. I am so blessed to have grown up in that generation.
I can only hope and pray that I'll one day be blessed with children that I can give a childhood like mine. Because it truly was amazing:
Bestie since day one.
The overalls. Yeah, not sure they were ever cool.
LOL @ Emily. Dad just looked over my shoulder as I was posting this and said, "Dang that's an ugly picture!"
Emily's rockin' the overalls in this one! ^
