A TRIP TO THE VILLAGE

May 9, 2016

As we looked back at the photos taken this day, Art and I couldn't help but laugh. We both agreed, that if we wanted my personality to show, this one was hands down, the best. Granted, I absolutely was not ready for this. But, sometimes candid photos are the best kind. I love chocolate. I love whipped cream, and I'm not sharing this one. But, I'll tell you where you can get some of the best! ;)

This week, we visited the Towne of Historic Smithville. One of my favorite places in Jersey! It's the cutest little village, with tons of little shoppes that are individually owned and operated. They also have a bakery, (where I got my hot cocoa topped with whipped cream) a restaurant, a merry-go-round, an ice cream shop and a lake with paddle boats that you can take out for a ride! There are antique shops, and an old fashion arcade. There are tons of unique stores where you will find things you wouldn't normally spot.  There is a little train that runs around the entire village. If you've never been, I'd hop on that first, so you can get a quick view and tour of the place. It's about a 5 minute ride.

Scattered throughout the village are what look like historic homes. Inside, are rooms. YES, you can spend the night here! And we did! You can book it through their site directly or do what we did and book through BedandBreakfast.com

Each room has a different theme. We stayed in the carousel room. It was so cute, so homey, so cozy, so peaceful. The entire room, as well as the rest of the shoppes and buildings in the village are made of all wood and almost look like log cabins. That look is SO my style. I've always had the dream of one day living in a log home. This was a teeny glimpse of what it would be like.

I got the bracelet I'm wearing at Trendie Treasures, one of the boutiques in the village. I get compliments on this sparkly number ALL the time. My mom especially loves it so you know I went in there this week and got her one for Mother's Day! I got hers in silver, because she wears more of that. But me, I'm a gold and rose gold kinda gal.

They have feeders attached to the docks, where you can stick a quarter in, and out comes duck food! I can't help but want to feed the cutie duckies every time. They love me. Hehe.

What's also cool about this place is that they have a wedding venue! My best friend, Desiree' actually got married here a few years ago and since, I've seen a few outside when I've visited. The ceremony usually takes place outside on a really pretty cobblestone patio, overlooking the lake. The reception is in a room that is all windows, floor to ceiling and also has a fantastic view of the water. If you're getting married, you should totally check this place out!

I wore this strapless, strawberry margarita top. I got it from Impressions Online Clothing Boutique! It was the first time I ordered from them and I was so pleased! They sell some really awesome and unique pieces of clothing on their site and I encourage you all to go check it out! I paired the top with my favorite white jeans and nude wedges. I've had these Ray-Ban aviators for years and they never get old. A pair of aviators can go with just about anything. A simple, comfortable and cute outfit for a day like this.
